Xuefei LIAssociate Professor

Dr. Li is interested in understanding the mechanisms underlying bacterial-based tumor therapies and the immune exclusion in cancer, by combining computational modeling and quantitative data analysis.

Dr. Xuefei Li received his Ph.D. in 2012 at Department of Physics, HKBU. During his Ph.D., Dr. Li focused on theoretical studies of bacteria metabolism and bacterial-based cancer therapy. He stayed in HKBU as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow after graduation for three years (2012-2015), and then joined the Center for Theoretical Biological Physics Rice University as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. At Rice University (2015-2019), Dr. Li focused on the tumor microenvironment and had 4 first-author papers on this topic, including 2 PNAS papers. In his work, via data analysis and computational modeling studies, Dr. Li proposed a repellent-dominated mechanism to explain the infiltration pattern of cytotoxic immune cells, which could be helpful to improve the immune therapy. In July 2019, Dr. Li joined Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology as an Associate Professor. Dr. Li's expertise includes theoretical modeling of biological systems and quantitative analysis of biological data.
