Research Management Activity: Synthetic Biology Institute Wins First Prize in Research Project Management Knowledge Competition

In order to promote the building of research assistant team of the SIAT, improve their working abilities and professional skills, and provide better professional research management services, on the afternoon of September 16, 2022, the sixth Research Project Management Knowledge Training and Competition was held at Conference Room A503, led by the Research Management Office of the Scientific Research Department and co-organized by the Project Office and International Cooperation Office. The meeting was attended by more than 60 research assistants from each department and center.

At first, Tan Le, deputy director of the Scientific Research Department, welcomed all research assistants, and introduced the background and significance of the activity. He hoped that through measures such as training and competition, the management of research assistants could be improved and a professional team could be built to support the management of research projects. He Jianchun, director of the Research Management Office, summarized the mid-term inspection of projects this year, explained the common problems faced by various projects, and proposed relevant suggestions and solutions.

Next followed the research management knowledge competition. The competition covered project application, process management and acceptance, AOP system and file management, and application for science and technology awards. It comprised the links of required questions, quick response questions and case practice questions. In the link of required questions, all research assistants were absorbed in the race against time. After a fierce competition, Zhang Shuxiao from the Synthetic Biology Institute and Tao Xumin from the Institute of Medical Engineering won the first prize in the individual competition, and 10 contestants including Chen Runge from the Institute of Digital Technology, Zhang Xueting and Wang Li from the Synthetic Biology Institute won the second and third prizes respectively. Later, in the fierce link of quick response questions, the research assistants were quick-witted and swift in response pushing the whole competition to a climax, and the score gap among the teams was also widening. In the end, the link of case operation became the decisive point of victory, as the research assistants stayed composed and answered the questions calmly. In the end, the Synthetic Biology Institute won the championship of teams with its solid project management experience and good team work, while the Institute of Brain Science and the Institute of Materials took the second and third places respectively.
