In order to form synergy of scientific innovation, promote the co-building and sharing of research achievements, and strengthen the industry-academy-research cooperation, on the afternoon of August 25, the business division of the China Merchants Group’s Industrial Park in Shekou joined hands with China Merchants Group Intelligence Town (hereinafter referred to as the Intelligence Town) and Guangming Science City’s Scientific Innovation Federation (hereafter referred to as the Innovation Federation) to hold a special session of cooperation and docking between enterprise and universities for the Synthetic Biology Institute of SIAT. The event was attended by 19 post-doctors and students of Synthetic Biology Institute led by the deputy director Fu Xiongfei and dozens of enterprises in the park such as Longuide Biopharma, Aonemed, Regeneration and Benyuan Biotechnology.

Liu Ziwen, deputy director in charge of investment promotion of the Intelligence Town, expressed warm welcome for the arrival of the representatives of Synthetic Biology Institute and enterprises on behalf of the hosting party, and introduced the development and industrial ecosystem of the Intelligence Town. The China Merchants Group hoped that a cooperation and exchange platform could be established in the event and both sides could deepen cooperation and exchange in the industrialization of synthetic biology in the future.

Fu Xiongfei, deputy director of the Institute, expressed gratitude to the Intelligence Town and the Innovation Federation for building the cooperation and exchange platform, and introduced the construction and development of the Institute in detail. In terms of platform construction, SIAT has established the world’s largest synthetic biology infrastructure; in terms of talent team construction, it has gathered a multidisciplinary team of nearly 1000 talents focusing on the field of synthetic biology. In terms of talent training, SIAT University (preparatory) has established the School of Synthetic Biology to cultivate the reserve force of synthetic biology; in terms of industrial transformation, it has initiated the model of “upstairs and downstairs” innovation and entrepreneurship complex, and built the Shenzhen Innovation Center of Engineering Biology to effectively solve the the lack of infrastructure and technology platforms, a bottleneck faced by start-ups. He hoped that in the future, the Institute could cooperate with the Intelligence Town, the Innovation Federation and the participating enterprises in terms of application for science and technology projects, joint training of talents, and industrial transformation, so as to boost the development of scientific research and economy.

After listening to the introduction of the Institute, the representatives of the enterprises introduced their demands in terms of talent, technology, R&D, and raised more than ten specific demands such as application for science and technology projects and talent training on the spot.
During free exchange, the Institute actively responded to the questions and demands raised by the enterprises, and launched discussions on such issues as technology exchange, application for science and technology projects, talent supply and demand between enterprises and universities. The interaction took place in a warm atmosphere. The representatives expressed gratitude to the Intelligence Town and the Innovation Federation for building a high-quality school-enterprise exchange and cooperation platform, so that enterprises could have the opportunity to accurately dock with universities and talents. They hoped that they could dock with more universities to promote the industry-university-research collaborative innovation.
After the event, the representatives visited HRYZ Bio Tech and Aivd Biotech, two enterprises settled in the Intelligence Town, and communicated on topics such as talent supply and demand, industrialization of scientific research. Both sides spoke freely in a harmonious atmosphere.
