On January 6th, the launching meeting of Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Life Information and Biomedicine and the awarding ceremony of Shenzhen Basic Research Institution were successfully held. Weizhong Wang, deputy secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee, and mayor Rugui Chen attended the launching ceremony and awarded licenses to nine basic research institutions.
As one of the 9 basic research institutions, the Shenzhen Institute of Synthetic Biology is an unincorporated scientific research institution led by the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIAT). The core participating units are Shenzhen Second People's Hospital and Shenzhen Huada Life Science Research Institute.
On the day of the unveiling, Jiancheng Lv, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and deputy dean of SIAT, and Chenli Liu, director of the Institute of Synthetic Biology, attended the ceremony.
In the future, the Shenzhen Institute of Synthetic Biology will cooperate with universities in Shenzhen and Hong Kong to participate in joint construction to promote scientific research cooperation and academic exchange in the Shenzhen and Hong Kong area. At the same time, relying on the major scientific and technological infrastructure projects of Shenzhen Synthetic Biology Research, the “two-in-one” simultaneous construction promotes deep, wide-ranging and comprehensive international cooperation in synthetic biology research at home and abroad. "Automated domestic production of high-end biological instruments" and two new industrial chains will let Shenzhen as a global leader in synthetic biology research and industry.
