Professor Lei Dai, the director of the center, said that the center will form a complete and innovative ecology, conduct original research in the intersection of synthetic biology and microbiology, and promote the application of artificial flora in medical clinical, industrial and agricultural production.

In the future, the center plans to expand the research object from a single microorganism to a complex system composed of a variety of different microorganisms, use synthetic biology tools to build a microbial flora with controllable functions and stability and to solve important issues of human health.
