Inauguration Ceremony of Synthetic Biology Specialized Committee Chinese Society of Biotechnology

On November 11, the specialized Committee of Synthetic Biology of the Chinese Society of Bioengineering held the inauguration ceremony.

Professor Zhengzong Yang, Department of Life Sciences, Ju Zhou, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Shuheng Ma, Director of the Biotechnology Division of the Science and Technology Development Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xianen Zhang, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Bioengineering and Min Lin, Vice Chairman attended this meeting. More than 40 experts and scholars from around the country, including Academician Guoping Zhao and Academician Yaoguang Liu, and more than 100 young scholars in the field of synthetic biology gathered for academic exchanges, and witnessed the establishment of the specialized committee.

The specialized committee is a branch of the society that operates under the guidance of the Chinese Society of Biological Engineering. The organization consists of consultants, directors, deputy directors, secretary generals, members and management teams. The specialized  committee aims to promote basic research and related applied research on synthetic biology in China, explore key issues such as the development direction of synthetic biology research, discipline construction, promote interdisciplinary exchanges, and provide academics for synthetic biology scholars and industrial personnel research and technology exchange platform. The specialized committee will focus on the hot topics of synthetic biology, and the management team will actively organize, participate in and coordinate various activities, including but not limited to regular meetings on synthetic biology; irregular academic regional or specific academic exchanges activities, interdisciplinary seminars, industry summits; holding trainings, lectures, academic salons, online forums; and actively participating in popular science education activities for social sciences.
