On November 16, 2017, the inauguration ceremony of Shenzhen Association for Synthetic Biology was grandly held at the 19th High-Tech Fair to promote academic research and exchanges in the field of synthetic biology, and to closely contact enterprises and scientists in Shenzhen-related fields, and further improve the comprehensive competitiveness and domestic and foreign influence of the synthetic biology industry in Shenzhen.
Previously, in the emerging field of synthetic biology, Shenzhen had not established related associations. Some problems needed to be effectively communicated and resolved, such as insufficient communication between the research team and the government, weak links with enterprises, lack of communication and management between domestic and foreign counterparts, outdated methods, scattered technical forces, and public safety disputes over research results, etc. The Shenzhen Association for Synthetic Biology is expected to fill this gap, consolidate the strength of many experts and scholars in the field of synthetic biology, and open up the integrated innovation chain from basic research in synthetic biology to industrial transformation, and ontribute to the sustainable development of the city's entire biological industry.
