第20期PI学术交流会

The field of synthetic biology has grown rapidly over the past 20 years, evolving from building proof-of-concept genetic circuits that mimic the function of electronic circuits to creating synthetic genomes, biological pathways, and microorganisms in the laboratory.  The field has the potential to have a widespread impact on the development of new treatments for diseases, new resources for the synthesis of essential medicines, new methods to treat environmental pollutants, and new processes to manufacture fine and bulk chemicals used as the fuels and materials that power civilization.  Dr. Chou will share his experiences from working in the field of synthetic biology in both academia and industry, as well as discuss his research in engineering synthetic pathways, creating intelligent microorganisms, and developing new biobased industrial processes.


Howard H. Chou 博士,中科院深圳先进院合成院正高级工程师(教授同等级别)。于2004年获得麻省理工学院计算机科学理学学士学位,2005年获得麻省理工学院生物科学理学学士学位和计算机科学工程硕士学位,2012年获得加州大学伯克利分校生物工程博士学位(导师:Jay Keasling 院士),并且获加州伯克利大学哈斯商学院的技术管理认证。2012年到中国上海加入了上海凯赛生物技术有限公司,2012至2014年担任分子生物技术首席科学家,2014至2017年担任研发总监2017至2019年担任研发副总裁;2017至2020年担任江南大学客座教授;期间其被授予第二届张江杰出创新创业人才奖、 上海市科学技术委员会优秀技术带头人奖。于2019年加入了中国科学院深圳先进技术研究院合成生物学研究所合成生物化学中心。研究成果发表过在《Nature Communications》,《Nature Biotechnology》,《Applied & Environmental Biotechnology》 等多家顶级学术期刊,授权国际发明专利5项,申请国际发明专利11项。
